Symptoms of Acid Reflux Disease

There are many symptoms that a person may experience when they have acid reflux disease. While these symptoms aren't going to be life threatening, they can be very uncomfortable. When they occur on a regular basis they can also make it hard to get a good night of rest. Heartburn is the most common type of symptom and it is often referred to as indigestion.

This symptom involves a type of burning sensation or discomfort that can be from the stomach, through the abdomen, and into the chest area. Some people also feel this burning down their throat. This particular symptom isn't going to create any problems for your heart, so don't let the name of it give you that notion.

Many people that suffer from acid reflux disease also experience regurgitation. This is the feeling of the foods and drinks that have been consumed moving back up into the throat. Sometimes, it can get into the mouth as well. Most people find this to be a very sour and bitter taste. Even after rinsing the mouth, it can have that awful taste for a very long time.

The least common of these symptoms relating to acid reflux disease is dyspepsia. This refers to the stomach being uncomfortable after eating. A person may experience nausea, burping that is very strong and loud, and they feel very bloated around the stomach. Sometimes, this symptom will also include pain that is in the upper portion of the abdomen.

It isn't a good idea to ignore any of the symptoms of acid reflux disease. Should you do so, they can continue to get worse and worse. That is due to the fact that the esophagus is being inflamed. When acid moves back up that way into the esophagus it is extremely uncomfortable. It can also cause bleeding when it gets to the stage of being a chronic problem.

Most people find that they will experience acid reflux symptoms after they have eaten a very large meal. They will also notice it while they are lying down on their back. This is why it is so common throughout the night when someone is trying to sleep. Some people experience these symptoms when they bend over to pick up something.
